Request and accept intros
How double-opt-in intro requests work between founders and investors on OmniLead, and why contact details are shared only after acceptance.
An intro request is a polite knock on the door. A founder asks an investor on OmniLead for an introduction, or an investor asks a founder. Nobody's email address is shared until the other side accepts. Both sides opt in, so every conversation that starts this way starts with two interested people.
When to use intro requests
Intro requests work between two OmniLead workspaces:
- A founder in Raising mode and an investor in Investing mode who has published their thesis.
- An investor and a founder whose opportunity profile is visible to Investors only or Public.
Most investors you find in the Investors lens come from SEC Form D filings and fund websites and don't use OmniLead. For them, reveal the contact and send a sequence. See Find investors with the Investors lens.
Send a request
Find the match
In Fundraising, open Matches (founders) or Opportunities (investors). Each row shows the match score and why.
Open the profile
Click the investor or the opportunity to read the full thesis or pitch.
Request the intro
Click Request intro.
Write a short note
Explain in two or three sentences why you're a fit. Mention something specific: a portfolio company, a line in their thesis, or your traction. The note is the only thing they see besides your profile, so make it count.
Send
Click Send request. It appears under Intro requests → Sent with the status Pending.
The other side sees your profile and note, but not your email address or anyone's contact details in your workspace.
Respond to a request
When someone requests an intro with you, the request appears under Intro requests → Received and workspace owners and admins are notified.
Open the request
Go to Fundraising → Intro requests → Received and click the request.
Review
Read their note, their profile or thesis, and the match score.
Accept or decline
Click Accept or Decline. You can add a short reply, such as a good time to talk or why it isn't a fit right now.
What happens after acceptance
When a request is accepted:
- Both sides see each other's contact details on the request: the name, email address and role of the person who sent the request and the person who accepted it.
- Each side is notified that the intro was accepted.
- You take the conversation to email. Add the other side to your pipeline if you want to track the conversation there.
Contact details are shared only through the accepted request. They aren't added to any list, and the other side can't see anyone else in your workspace.
Declined, withdrawn and expired requests
A decline isn't shown to anyone else and doesn't affect your match scores.
Keep it respectful
Intro requests are for genuine fits. Send them to people whose thesis or profile matches what you do, and write each note yourself. Requests are covered by the Acceptable Use Policy, like the rest of OmniLead.
Can I request an intro to an investor I found through SEC filings?
Only if they also use OmniLead and have published their thesis. Otherwise, reveal their contact and email them with a sequence.
Does sending an intro request cost credits?
No. Intro requests are free on Growth and Agency.
Can a teammate respond on my behalf?
Yes. Any owner or admin in the workspace can accept or decline. The request records who responded.
